Biography

Music found James Brown in the rural suburb of Effingham county outside of Savannah, Georgia. Raised by his parents in the church, James began cultivating his musical talents at the tender age of 5. He quickly took to the piano, his first love, but later gravitated to the trumpet, drums, guitar and any other instrument he could get his hands on. James continued to develop his musical skills throughout high school and college while playing in the band.

Although he always knew he could sing, it would not be until his college days that he would truly discover his voice and his uncanny writing ability. James’ earliest musical influence was his father, who himself was a singer and had been in many soul groups in his earlier days. However, he gave up his dream of being a singer to raise a family, but he made sure he passed on his musical legacy by exposing his son to the likes of soul legends Marvin Gaye and Sam Cooke.

Over the years James has taken his cues from these early greats, while perfecting his own style to become the artist we now know as J.B. J.B. is on a personal mission to bring feeling, passion and soul back to R&B and music as a whole. Since joining MelloSoundz Productions in 2004, he has worked diligently toward this goal and with the anticipated release of his debut album in 2006, he is sure to accomplish that and so much more. With sultry, soulful vocals, the likes of Will Downing, the street passion of Jaheim and thoughtful lyrics reminiscent of Marvin Gaye, J.B. is destined to take the industry by storm. World, take note!
